I wanted to start off thanking everyone who read the first post. It was a long time going back and fourth on when or if I would start doing this. If you could, please follow the page to keep updated with when I post and let me know what you guys want to hear about!
Now, let’s get into it.
- Controversial call in Pats/Jets game: JETS FANS NEED TO STOP. Don’t be mad at the call, be mad at the rule. The ball clearly comes loose and has no control at one point. As he’s going down, he tries securing it with his left hand, then rolls over switching the ball the right hand. That means he didn’t secure the ball in bounds.
- Aaron Rodgers goes down: Touch on this a little bit yesterday, but wanted to expand on the play itself. The play, to me, should’ve been flagged. I know that he was outside the pocket that doesn’t give him the same protections as if he was inside the pocket. Barr took close to 2 steps and hit him, then proceeds to drive him into the ground. Hit him that’s fine, but the unnecessary part is driving him. With this injury, the NFC is wide open now. Are the Eagles for real? Can Cam carry the Panthers? When will Seattle take over the West? Can the Packers withstand Rodgers injury? It’s going to get exciting!
- Alex Smith comes back down to Earth: I keep reading/hearing a lot about Alex Smith for MVP talks going on. On Sunday, he showed why he’s not MVP material. I know, I know it’s only one game, but look at his career before this year. Welcome back, Alex.
- Is this the year we see a non-quarterback win MVP?: My thoughts are… No. Kareem Hunt, Todd Gurley, Leonard Fournette, Le’Veon Bell (if they keep giving him the ball), Antonio Brown, etc, etc. could pry it away. 9 out of the last 10 years have been quarterbacks and going back to 2000 there have only been 4 non-quarterbacks (all runningbacks actually) that have won. If Carson Wentz keeps his pace, he could make a claim (Eagles would need #1 seed). Cam has flashed some signs that he’s getting back to MVP fashion. My pick, right now, is Tom Brady (surprise, surprise). Against the Saints, they had 3 healthy wide-receivers. They needed Develin to line-up on the outside just to have enough bodies. He’s carried their team especially with how their defense has played so far.
I had a very good weekend going 3-0. I am in 1st place in 2 out of 3 leagues with a 5-1 record and a 2 game advantage in one of the leagues. The other league is NFC only and non-PPR with a 3-3 record.
I hope everyone enjoyed reading! Let me know what your thoughts are on the topics. Also, let me know how your fantasy teams are doing!
Until next time,
