23-0. At home. For the first time in 11 years to a team lead by Joe Flacco. I don’t know what to say other than I’ve given up this year. I had all the optimism in the world that we would be able to hang on until Rodgers came back. It’s all gone now. That was a piss poor excuse for an offense for an offensive minded coach.
People were calling me insane, but I saw the Packers having a chance to go 4-1 after the Lions game. They had the schedule for it. Beat Chicago on the road, then had the Ravens at home. The defense made plays yesterday. Yeah the Ravens put up 23 points, but that’s after the offense turned the ball over 5 times. Think about that. 5 turnovers in one game and they still had a shot at winning. For the first time (in a long time), I am not optimistic about the Packers chances. Also, first time in a long time that I was embarrassed to say that I am a Packer fan. That’s a hard thing to accomplish given the pride Packer fans have in their team.
So now what?
The team needs a new direction. It’s the same year after year. Even with Rodgers. Last year we put ourselves in a hole losing 6 games in a row. Other than the 2010 season, our playoff opportunities get squandered. Ted’s wasted too many first round draft picks on guys that aren’t first round talent. McCarthy has wasted too many years trying to run this offense. Clearly shows that Rodgers controls more of it than he leads on. I don’t have the answers and I’m not going to put on like I have them. The only thing that I’ll say is this isn’t working anymore. The organization needs a rejuvenation.
Lastly, I’m sure I’ll still sit down and watch every game. I don’t know if it will have the same passion because I have no expectations the rest of the way. If they win a game or two, great. I’m not counting on it with that performance, though.
