Yesterday, the game didn’t go as planned. Rodgers seemed like he didn’t have the arm strength back. He also seemed timid at points. Two of his interceptions are throws he makes 10/10 times, but he didn’t have the power behind them.
So now what?
It all comes down to tonight’s game. If Tampa Bay can win, then the Packers season rolls on for another week. We need Atlanta to lose the next 3 games while Dallas and Seahawks have to each lose one more game. That is on top of the Packers finishing the season 2-0 with a 9-7 record. Although there’s a chance, I’m not really confident that it’ll happen this year.
Does Rodgers play?
I don’t really think this is a question. Yes. Rodgers is still hurting, but he came out of the game fine. He landed on the shoulder a couple times while not hurting it more. Why wouldn’t you play your best player? We already know what we have in Brett Hundley. There’s really nothing to lose. Even if he gets hurt, Rodgers has all offseason to heal. You are doing a disservice to your fan base if you sit Rodgers for the last two games.
Where do we go from here?
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the franchise needs to go through a rejuvenation period. Everyone just seems on edge, playing for themselves, having no fun and just not able/wanting to make plays. I think Capers is done and McCarthy needs to give up play calling. This time, he needs to hire an offensive coordinator that can call a game. Not hand the play calling over to someone that listens to everything he says. Also, hand the reigns over to Eliot Wolf. Thompson needs to step aside. Aaron Rodgers isn’t getting any younger so we need to maximize the rest of his career. No more early playoff losses or NFC Championship meltdowns.
Cheers to the last 8 years of making the playoffs!
Lastly, screw any Vikings fan.
